How Much Does It Cost to Start a Podcast Studio in India? Real Cost Breakdown From Our Powai Studio Setup
We Actually Built One, So This Is Not Theory
When we started setting up our podcast studio in Powai, I realized most online articles only give generic estimates.
They say things like “you can start a podcast studio under ₹1 lakh” or “a professional setup costs ₹5 lakh.” Fine. But what about rent? Deposit? GST invoices? Tripods? Cables? Wall panels? Sofa chairs? Lights? Dry cabinet? The small things no one talks about?
That is where the real cost starts.
So in this guide, I am sharing our actual buying experience, rent and deposit numbers, invoice examples, local market pricing, GST billing lessons, and the mistakes you should avoid before opening your own podcast studio in India.
For our Powai studio, the property itself cost us ₹1.2 lakh deposit and ₹40,000 monthly rent. Before even buying cameras, microphones, lights, furniture, or wall panels, we had already committed ₹1.6 lakh in first-month outflow.
That number matters.
Because if you are planning to open a commercial podcast studio in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, or any premium Indian market, equipment is only one part of the story. The studio has to make money every month. Rent does not wait. Electricity does not wait. Staff salary does not wait. Maintenance does not wait.
I am writing this from the point of view of someone who has actually gone through the buying, negotiating, billing, and setup process. Some decisions were good. Some were expensive lessons.
Let’s get into the real numbers.
Quick Answer: Podcast Studio Setup Cost in India
Here is a practical cost range if you are planning a podcast studio in India.
If you are opening a commercial podcast studio, do not calculate only equipment. Rent, deposit, interiors, acoustics, GST, furniture, lights, repairs, and monthly staff cost matter equally.
A creator recording at home can start small. A business opening a rental studio cannot think like that. Clients will compare your studio with every other premium-looking room they have seen on Instagram, YouTube, and Google Maps.
They will notice the chairs. They will notice the background. They will notice bad echo. They will notice flickering lights. They will notice if the camera angle feels cheap.
And yes, they will notice if your studio looks like a random office room with two mics kept on a table.
Our Real Powai Podcast Studio Cost
Rent and Deposit
| Item | Our cost |
| Location | Powai, Mumbai |
| Security deposit | ₹1.2 lakh |
| Monthly rent | ₹40,000/month |
| First-month property outflow | ₹1.6 lakh before equipment |
In premium locations like Powai, Bandra, Andheri, Lower Parel, BKC, Navi Mumbai, Gurgaon, or Bangalore, the first major cost is not the camera or microphone. It is rent and deposit.
Our Powai studio cost us ₹1.2 lakh deposit and ₹40,000 monthly rent, which means we had to plan bookings and pricing seriously from day one.
This is the part beginners miss. They calculate microphones, camera, tripod, and maybe one sofa. Then they forget that the property itself will eat a big chunk before the studio even opens.
If your rent is ₹40,000 per month, and you charge ₹1,500 per hour, you need around 27 booked hours just to cover rent. That does not include electricity, internet, staff, editor, cleaning, repairs, marketing, or EMI on gear.
So before buying equipment, answer one boring but necessary question: how many paid recording hours can this studio realistically get every month?
Not “maybe.” Not “once reels go viral.” Real bookings.
For us, the Powai rent number forced us to think like a studio business, not like hobby creators buying gear.
Real Equipment Purchases From Our Studio Setup
Now let’s talk about the actual buying.
Most people think the cost is in big items: camera, lens, lights, and microphones. That is partly true. But small accessories are dangerous. They look harmless at the shop counter. Then the bill comes.
Actual Invoice Example: Microphones, Stands, Tripods, and Cables
From our Bombay Photo Stores invoice, we bought the following items:
| Item | Quantity | Invoice amount before GST |
| Soundx Microphone Stand SMS-03 | 2 pcs | ₹4,237.28 |
| Hawk XLR Male to XLR Female Cable | 2 pcs | ₹2,542.38 |
| Digitek Platinum Tripod DPTR 880 Pro | 3 pcs | ₹6,355.92 |
| Godox Cardioid Condenser Microphone XMic10L | 2 pcs | ₹6,440.68 |
| Total invoice value including GST | 9 pcs | ₹23,100 |
One thing beginners underestimate is accessories. Mic stands, XLR cables, tripods, and basic microphones may not look expensive individually, but together they quickly become ₹20,000 to ₹30,000. In our case, one invoice for stands, cables, tripods, and microphones came to ₹23,100 including GST.
The GST part also matters. This invoice included CGST and SGST of ₹3,523.72.
That is not a small side detail. If you are building a business, clean billing helps with accounts, warranty records, depreciation, and proof of ownership. More on GST later, because this is one area where people try to save money and end up taking unnecessary risk.
Also, three tripods may sound too many to a beginner. It is not. A commercial video podcast setup often needs one front camera, one side angle, and one wide or host angle. Once you start shooting reels, testimonials, interviews, and corporate videos, extra tripods never stay idle for long.
Actual Invoice Example: Dry Cabinet for Camera Gear
We also bought a dry cabinet:
A dry cabinet is not the first thing people think about, but if you are buying cameras and lenses in India, especially in humid cities like Mumbai, it is a smart investment. We bought a Photron Electronics dry cabinet for ₹4,500 including GST.
Mumbai humidity is not kind to camera gear. Fungus on lenses is a real issue. If you are spending lakhs on cameras and lenses, saving ₹4,500 by skipping a dry cabinet makes no sense.
This is one of those purchases that does not improve the look of the studio, so beginners ignore it. Clients will not see it. Your Instagram reel will not show it.
Your lens will thank you later.
Lighting and Background Setup: Our Market Quote Was Around ₹51,800
Lighting is where a podcast studio starts looking expensive.
In our lighting and background purchase list, the quote came to around ₹51,800. This included lights, softboxes or octas, stands, RGB lights, brackets, a backdrop stand, and green cloth background. This is why I always say: lighting is not one item. It is a full system.
A good podcast look comes from layers of light. Face light. Fill light. Back light. Background light. Practical lights in the frame. RGB glow on the wall. Sometimes one light just to separate the guest from the background.
Can you start with two basic lights? Yes.
Will it look like a premium rental studio? Usually no.
This is why a ₹3 lakh video podcast setup and a ₹10 lakh commercial studio do not look the same, even if both have “two cameras and two mics.” The difference sits in lighting control, background depth, furniture, set design, and audio treatment.
Minimum, Must-Have, and Advanced Podcast Studio Equipment
This is the section I wish I had before buying.
Podcast studio equipment depends on your purpose. A creator recording alone at home does not need the same setup as a rental studio charging clients by the hour. A corporate studio inside an office has different needs again.
So let’s divide it properly.
Minimum Equipment Required to Start
This setup is for creators, small business owners, solo founders, internal teams, coaches, trainers, or anyone who wants to record without building a full rental studio.
This setup can help you start, but it may not look premium enough for a commercial rental studio.
For a home podcast, this is fine. You can sit in a small room, use a clean background, add soft light, and record decent audio. If your content is strong, the audience will forgive a simple setup.
Commercial clients are different.
They pay for confidence. They want to walk in and feel that the studio is ready. They do not want to adjust the light themselves, check audio levels, or wonder why the video angle looks flat. They want a finished experience.
That is why commercial setup cost is higher.
Must-Have Equipment for a Commercial Podcast Studio
For a commercial podcast studio, equipment is not only about recording. It is about reliability, comfort, repeat bookings, and how premium the video looks.
Two cameras can work. Three cameras are better. Four microphones are better than two if you plan to allow group episodes. Extra XLR cables, spare adapters, memory cards, batteries, extension boards, clamps, mounts, and chargers should be kept ready.
You do not want a client sitting in your studio while your team searches for one missing cable.
It happens. And it looks bad.
A commercial studio also needs a smoother workflow. How does the client book? Who confirms the slot? Who collects payment? Who handles files after the shoot? How are raw files transferred? How are edited reels delivered? Where are backups stored?
The gear gets the client in. The workflow brings them back.
Advanced Equipment for Premium Studios
Premium studios are built for consistency. One good-looking shoot is easy. Doing it every day with different creators, founders, guests, and teams is harder.
A teleprompter helps corporate clients who do not want to memorize scripts. Wireless lav mics help when you shoot standing reels, interviews, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes clips. A video switcher can reduce editing time if your team knows how to use it properly.
And please do not ignore backup.
Video files are heavy. One 4K multi-camera podcast can eat storage quickly. If you shoot several sessions a week, file management becomes a business problem. SSDs, hard drives, cloud backup, naming systems, and transfer policies should be planned early.
Otherwise your desktop becomes a graveyard of folders named “Final_Final_New_Client_Use_This.”
Not ideal.
Camera Buying Guide: Do Not Buy Only Based on Image Quality
Camera buying is where many podcast studio owners make emotional decisions.
They see full-frame footage on YouTube. They fall in love with background blur. They stretch the budget. Then they realize the camera overheats, stops after 30 minutes, has weak autofocus, crops heavily in 4K, or needs expensive lenses.
Image quality matters. But for podcasting, reliability matters more.
A podcast camera must sit quietly for 1 to 2 hours and record without drama.
Two Types of Cameras You Can Use
Option 1: Mirrorless / DSLR Cameras
Best for:
Mirrorless and DSLR cameras can give beautiful output. The image looks richer, the background blur looks clean, and clients feel they are getting a premium shoot.
Problems:
Before buying, check the actual use case. A camera that is great for wedding reels or photos may be frustrating for podcasts.
Option 2: Camcorders / Video-Focused Cameras
Best for:
Camcorders do not always look as cinematic as mirrorless cameras, but they solve one big problem: long recording.
Problems:
So which one should you buy?
For a premium studio, mirrorless cameras usually look better. For long corporate recordings or event-style content, video-first cameras can be safer. For a rental studio, I would rather have slightly less cinematic footage than a camera that stops mid-conversation.
Reliability wins.
Important Camera Warning: 30-Minute Recording Limit
Before buying any camera for podcasting, check whether it can record continuously for 1 to 2 hours. Many cameras, especially photo-first cameras, have recording limits. Some stop around 30 minutes due to heat, file-size limitations, battery management, product segmentation, or older camera and camcorder classification rules.
Budget full-frame cameras can look attractive because they give premium image quality at a lower price. For example, cameras like Nikon Z5 may look tempting, but before buying any camera for podcasting, check recording limit, overheating, HDMI output, autofocus, 4K crop, and power options.
Nikon’s own online documentation for the Z5 lists 29 minutes 59 seconds as the maximum recording time for several video modes, and Nikon support also says selected Z-series models normally have a 29 minute 59 second single-movie limit. Newer creator-focused cameras can be different, so do not assume every camera behaves the same. Always check the exact model before paying.
Use this checklist before buying any camera for a podcast studio:
The 30-minute issue is not a small technical point. It can ruin a paid shoot.
Imagine a guest is sharing a strong story. The host is in flow. The camera silently stops. Nobody notices for ten minutes.
Painful.
That is why I would not buy any camera for podcasting without checking real continuous recording performance first.
Where Should You Buy Podcast Studio Equipment?
You have three common options: online marketplaces, specialist websites, and offline camera/audio stores.
Each has a place.
Online Websites
Amazon can be cheaper if you check properly. Flipkart and camera websites may have offers. Websites like Design Info may give 1 to 2 percent extra discount. But after shipping and support, a local store can sometimes be better.
Websites like Design Info can sometimes give 1 to 2 percent additional discount. But that is most useful if you are from Mumbai or nearby. If you are from another city, buying from a trusted nearby shop may be better because support, warranty, replacement, and urgent help become easier.
For smaller items, online buying is convenient. Cables, clamps, extension boards, memory card cases, and minor accessories can be ordered quickly. For expensive cameras, lenses, mixers, and lights, I prefer speaking to a seller properly.
Why? Because once the product value crosses ₹50,000 or ₹1 lakh, support matters.
Amazon
Amazon can be cheaper if you try properly, especially during sales or bank offers. But for cameras, lenses, microphones, and expensive gear, check the seller, warranty type, return policy, and GST invoice. A small saving is not worth it if warranty becomes difficult later.
Also check whether the seller is authorized or trusted. Read recent reviews, not only star ratings. See whether buyers received proper invoices. Check return rules carefully.
Amazon is good. But do not blindly buy expensive gear at midnight just because the price dropped.
That ₹2,000 saving can become a ₹20,000 headache.
Offline Camera and Audio Stores
Personally, I found stores useful. You can negotiate, check the product physically, compare alternatives, and get guidance. For expensive cameras and lenses, it also helps to have a real store contact if something goes wrong.
Offline stores are also useful when you are buying multiple items together. Camera, lens, tripod, memory card, mic stand, cable, softbox, light stand. Bundle negotiation works better in person.
Another advantage: you may get practical advice.
A good seller will tell you, “Don’t buy this for long recording,” or “This light stand is weak,” or “This microphone needs a better interface.” Online listings rarely warn you like that.
Of course, not every shop gives honest advice. Compare. Ask questions. Take written quotes. Check GST details.
GST Invoice vs Non-GST Invoice: My Honest Advice
This section is important.
Many people buying camera gear in India will hear this question: “GST bill chahiye ya without GST?”
It sounds tempting. The seller may say you can save money if you skip GST billing.
Be careful.
Non-GST Invoice Does Not Really Save 18 Percent
Many stores may offer non-GST billing and make it sound like you are saving 18 percent. But practically, the discount is often closer to 5 percent, not the full 18 percent. For a business, this is usually not worth the risk.
For a podcast studio, your gear is part of your business. Cameras, lenses, microphones, mixers, monitors, lighting, hard drives, and computers are not random shopping items. They are assets.
So treat them like assets.
Why I Suggest Avoiding Non-GST Billing
I would suggest avoiding non-GST invoices for cameras, lenses, microphones, mixers, and expensive electronics. If a warranty issue comes, the service center may ask for a proper GST invoice. Without that, you may have to repair the camera outside, which is not worth the risk.
A proper tax invoice also keeps your records cleaner. Under GST invoice rules, a tax invoice from a registered supplier contains details like supplier name, GSTIN, invoice number, invoice date, recipient details where applicable, item description, tax value, and tax amount. That paperwork is boring until something goes wrong. Then it becomes very useful.
GST invoice helps with:
In our case, we took proper GST invoices for equipment purchases. Even for accessories and dry cabinet, we preferred documented billing because it keeps accounting and warranty cleaner.
One more thing: do not treat GST input credit casually. Speak to your CA. Eligibility can depend on how your business is registered, what you bought, how the invoice is issued, and how it appears in your records. The GST portal has systems around invoice matching and input tax credit, so sloppy billing can create problems later.
My simple rule: buy expensive electronics with proper GST invoice from trusted sellers.
Wall Panels, Furniture, Sofa Chairs, and Decor: Buy Locally
Now let’s come to the part that changes the look of the studio: furniture, panels, chairs, curtains, carpet, props, and background.
This is where local sourcing can save serious money.
Do Not Blindly Buy Furniture From Ikea or Amazon
For sofa chairs, I would not blindly go for Ikea or Amazon. A sofa chair online can cost around ₹7,000, Ikea-style options can go around ₹10,000, and we bought similar chairs locally in Mumbai for around ₹4,000. The same applies to tables, rugs, curtains, wall panels, and props.
Online furniture looks easy. You see the product, click buy, and wait.
But studio furniture is different. Height matters. Camera angle matters. Chair size matters. Table width matters. Fabric reflection matters. Even the chair backrest matters because it can block or clutter the frame.
A ₹10,000 chair that looks good online may look oversized in a small podcast room. A ₹4,000 local chair may look perfect on camera.
Test physically where possible.
Local Vendors Are Better For
For wall panels, wooden panels, PVC panels, carpets, curtains, and background items, local sourcing is usually better. Online pricing often looks simple, but after calculating size, quantity, delivery, and installation, it becomes more expensive than expected.
Local vendors can also customize.
Need a table of a specific height? Carpenter.
Need panels cut to exact wall size? Local market.
Need curtain rods installed today? Local contractor.
Need background props that fit your colour palette? Local decor shops.
This is where a studio becomes a studio, not a gear storage room.
A camera can only capture what you put in front of it. If the room looks dull, even a great camera will record a dull room in high resolution.
Acoustic Treatment vs Soundproofing
People confuse these two all the time.
Foam panels do not make a room soundproof. They mainly reduce echo. If your studio is near traffic, construction, or a noisy office, you need actual sound isolation.
Big difference.
Acoustic Treatment
Acoustic treatment improves sound inside the room.
Examples:
If your room sounds hollow, acoustic treatment helps. It makes voices warmer and cleaner. It reduces slap echo. It makes podcast audio easier to edit.
A room with hard flooring, glass, bare walls, and a flat ceiling will usually sound bad. Add carpet, curtains, panels, sofa, and some ceiling treatment, and the sound improves.
Soundproofing
Soundproofing blocks outside noise.
Examples:
Soundproofing costs more because it usually needs construction work. Door gaps, windows, thin partitions, AC openings, and ceiling leakage can bring sound inside.
If your studio is near a main road, metro work, construction site, busy office, or noisy corridor, do not depend on foam.
Foam will not stop honking.
For commercial studios, audio quality is not optional. A creator may forgive one small noise. A corporate client will not.
Hidden Costs People Forget
This table is boring but necessary. These costs quietly enter the budget.
Let me say this directly: your first budget will be wrong.
You will forget some cable. You will need another stand. One light will need an adapter. A wall panel installer will charge extra. Delivery will cost more because the item is bulky. You will buy one more SSD because the editor needs files urgently.
This is normal.
Keep a buffer of at least 15 to 25 percent over your planned setup budget. If you think the studio will cost ₹5 lakh, mentally prepare for ₹6 lakh. If you think it will cost ₹10 lakh, keep room for ₹12 lakh.
Studios are not built by buying one perfect kit. They are built by solving one annoying problem after another.
Monthly Running Cost of a Podcast Studio
Using our Powai rent as an example, here is what monthly running cost can look like.
The studio does not become profitable when interiors are completed. It becomes profitable when monthly bookings consistently cover rent, staff, electricity, marketing, repairs, and equipment depreciation.
This is where many people get stuck.
They spend money on the setup. They post photos. Friends comment “amazing studio bro.” Then bookings do not come automatically.
A commercial podcast studio needs marketing. Google Maps. Reviews. Instagram reels. Local SEO. WhatsApp follow-ups. Creator partnerships. Corporate outreach. Packages. Clear pricing. Fast response time.
A beautiful room with no leads is a liability.
At Dr Bomb Studios in Navi Mumbai, we learned this from actual session volume. The studio has completed 440+ sessions, worked with 50+ creators in Navi Mumbai, and maintains a 4.9 rating. That did not happen because of equipment alone. It happened because the studio solved the full client problem: recording, video quality, comfort, editing, reels, and reliable delivery.
For our Navi Mumbai studio at Akshar Business Park, D-0011, near APMC Market, Sector 25, Vashi, Turbhe, we keep the offer simple: soundproof, 4K-ready, multi-camera podcast and video production starting at ₹1,499/hr, all-inclusive for backdrops, mics, lighting, and up to 4 guests. Same-day bookings are available between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, 7 days a week.
That kind of positioning matters because clients do not want confusion.
They want to know: What do I pay? What do I get? Can I come today? Will the output look good?
Build vs Rent: Should You Open Your Own Podcast Studio?
This is the question you should ask before spending lakhs.
Should you build your own podcast studio or rent one when needed?
Build Your Own Studio If
Building makes sense if usage is high. If you have a team, clients, editors, and a clear plan for monthly bookings, a studio can become a strong asset.
But do the math.
If your total setup is ₹10 lakh and your monthly running cost is ₹1.5 lakh, you need serious bookings. Not occasional bookings. Serious.
Rent a Studio If
If you are not sure whether to invest lakhs into your own setup, shoot your first few episodes in a professional studio first. You will understand what equipment, layout, lighting, and workflow you actually need.
This is also where Dr Bomb Studios can help. If you are in Vashi, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Thane, or Mumbai, you can book a professional podcast studio without buying cameras, mics, lights, panels, furniture, and storage yourself.
Our pricing starts at ₹1,499/hr, and for 5+ hour bookings, you can use BULK15 for 15 percent off. Corporate and recurring booking rates are also available. Plus, if a client is not happy with the output, we offer a free reshoot. No questions asked.
That guarantee exists because trust matters in this business.
Final Practical Budget Recommendation
Here is my practical budget view after actually buying equipment and setting up.
A ₹1 lakh setup can record content. A ₹3 lakh setup can look decent. A ₹5 lakh setup can start looking professional if the room is planned well. A ₹7-10 lakh setup can become commercial if you control rent and get bookings. A ₹15 lakh+ setup gives you room for premium cameras, lighting, set design, acoustic work, storage, and workflow.
After buying equipment personally with my team, my advice is simple: buy expensive electronics with proper GST invoices from trusted sellers, compare online and offline pricing, source furniture and wall panels locally, and never buy a camera without checking recording limits.
A podcast studio is not just cameras and mics. It is rent, acoustics, lighting, comfort, workflow, warranty, and monthly business planning.
Also, start smaller than your ego wants.
You can upgrade cameras later. You can add RGB tubes later. You can improve the set after the first few clients. What you cannot easily fix is a bad rental deal, a noisy room, or expensive equipment bought without warranty support.
Think like an operator, not a gear collector.
That one shift will save you money.
AEOs
How much does it cost to start a podcast studio in India?
A basic audio podcast setup can start from ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh. A 2-person video podcast studio usually costs around ₹3 lakh to ₹7 lakh. A proper commercial podcast studio in India can cost ₹5 lakh to ₹15 lakh, while premium multi-camera studios can go above ₹15 lakh to ₹30 lakh depending on cameras, interiors, acoustic work, lighting, furniture, and rent.
How much did your Powai podcast studio cost?
For our Powai studio, the property itself cost ₹1.2 lakh deposit and ₹40,000 monthly rent. That means the first-month property outflow was ₹1.6 lakh before buying equipment. On top of that, we had invoices for microphones, stands, tripods, cables, dry cabinet, lighting, background, furniture, wall panels, and other setup items.
Can I start a podcast studio under ₹1 lakh?
Yes, but mostly as a creator setup, not as a premium commercial rental studio. Under ₹1 lakh, you can buy basic microphones, an audio interface, headphones, simple lights, a table, chairs, and some acoustic treatment. You may need to use a phone or existing camera to stay inside budget.
What is the minimum equipment needed for a podcast studio?
Minimum equipment includes 2 microphones, 2 mic stands or boom arms, an audio interface or mixer, 2 headphones, 1 camera or good phone, basic lights, table, chairs, and basic acoustic treatment. If the room has echo, spend on acoustic treatment before buying fancy lights.
What equipment is must-have for a commercial podcast studio?
A commercial podcast studio should have 2-4 XLR microphones, a reliable mixer or audio interface, 2-4 headphones, 2-3 cameras, tripods, a proper lighting setup, background design, acoustic treatment, comfortable furniture, storage, dry cabinet, extra cables, and a smooth booking/payment workflow.
Should I buy podcast equipment online or offline?
For small accessories, online buying is convenient. For expensive cameras, lenses, lights, microphones, and mixers, offline stores can be better because you can negotiate, check products physically, compare options, and get support if something goes wrong. Amazon can be cheaper during sales, but check seller quality, warranty, return policy, and GST invoice.
Is GST invoice important for camera warranty?
Yes, I strongly suggest taking a proper GST invoice for cameras, lenses, microphones, mixers, lights, and expensive electronics. It helps with warranty claims, accounting, GST input credit if applicable, depreciation, proof of ownership, insurance, and resale value. Speak to your CA for exact tax treatment.
Why do some cameras stop recording after 30 minutes?
Some cameras, especially photo-first cameras, have recording limits due to heat, file-size limits, battery management, product segmentation, or older camera classification rules. Before buying any camera for podcasting, check whether it can record continuously for 1 to 2 hours.
Is Nikon Z5 good for podcast recording?
Nikon Z5 can give good full-frame video quality, but check your podcast use case carefully. Nikon’s own documentation lists 29 minutes 59 seconds as the maximum recording time for several Z5 video modes, so it may not be ideal if you need long uninterrupted recording directly in-camera. Also check overheating, HDMI output, 4K crop, autofocus, and power options before buying.
Should I buy wall panels online or locally?
For wall panels, PVC panels, wooden panels, curtains, carpets, and background decor, local sourcing is usually better. Online pricing may look easy, but delivery, size mismatch, quantity calculation, and installation can increase the cost. Local vendors can customize and install faster.
Should I buy studio chairs from Ikea, Amazon, or local vendors?
Do not blindly buy from Ikea or Amazon. Online sofa chairs can cost around ₹7,000, Ikea-style options can go around ₹10,000, and similar chairs may be available locally in Mumbai for around ₹4,000. Test comfort, height, size, and camera look before buying.
What is the monthly cost of running a podcast studio?
Monthly cost depends on location and team size. In our Powai case, rent itself was ₹40,000/month. Other monthly costs can include electricity, internet, staff, editor, cleaning, marketing, repairs, software, storage, and equipment depreciation. A small studio may spend ₹75,000 to ₹1.5 lakh per month, while a larger commercial studio can spend much more.
Is opening a podcast studio profitable in India?
It can be profitable if you get consistent bookings and control monthly costs. Profit does not come from buying cameras. It comes from occupancy, pricing, client experience, repeat bookings, editing upsells, corporate work, reels packages, and local marketing. If you are unsure, rent a professional studio for your first few episodes before investing ₹5 lakh to ₹15 lakh into your own setup.
