Rent & deposit hit first
For our own Powai studio, the property alone cost ₹1.2 lakh deposit plus ₹40,000/month rent — ₹1.6 lakh gone before a single camera was bought.
Accessories add up fast
Mic stands, XLR cables, and tripods look cheap individually. One invoice of ours for exactly that came to ₹23,100 including GST.
Lighting is a system, not one item
Our lighting and background quote — lights, softboxes, stands, RGB, and backdrop — came to around ₹51,800.
Keep a real buffer
Your first budget will be wrong. Keep 15–25% extra — a planned ₹5 lakh setup has a habit of becoming ₹6 lakh.
The breakeven math beginners skip
If your rent is ₹40,000/month and you charge ₹1,500/hr, you need around 27 booked hours a month just to cover rent — before electricity, staff, editing, marketing, or equipment depreciation.
